The Argyle pattern is not a novel fashion invention created in a studio. Its origin actually dates back to the 16th century and is based on a true story. In a Scottish county called Argyllshire, which was also home to the Duke of Argyll, the classic Tartan pattern symbolised the belonging to a Scottish clan. With the Campbells of Argyll, the most powerful of all clans, the pattern became popular as a sock design. A story of success was hence born.
