About us - Burlington
Burlington History Timeline

A brand that writes stories

The origins of the brand date back to the 16th century. Led by Scottish clans, the foundations for this fashionable success story were already being laid way back in this era. From the very beginning, the legendary argyle pattern and typical Burlington clip have been distinctive features in the incomparable brand personality. This unique recognition factor also ensured that Burlington became a real icon in the 80s with its Brit style.
To this day, the brand inspires millions of people with its clever combination of timeless tradition and the latest trends. And thanks to constant new creative patterns and a wide range of colours, the brand always keeps up with the times. And with the spirit of the times.
Born in the 16th century from bonnie Scotland we hail,

Our raison d'etre couldn’t be clearer.

The freedom to be yourself is why we exist.
Revisited, reinterpreted it’s called the Burlington twist.

Burlington SI Argyle

A prime example of modern tradition: argyle

The original argyle can be recognised by its typical diamond pattern, which is crossed by so-called overchecks to create an unmistakable three-dimensional look. This typical Burlington pattern has become a true icon among styles and now, as a modern classic, represents what is known as timeless style.

Setting trends since 1658

The Argyle pattern is not a novel fashion invention created in a studio. Its origin actually dates back to the 16th century and is based on a true story. In a Scottish county called Argyllshire, which was also home to the Duke of Argyll, the classic Tartan pattern symbolised the belonging to a Scottish clan. With the Campbells of Argyll, the most powerful of all clans, the pattern became popular as a sock design. A story of success was hence born.
Burlington King Socks

Socks that keep up with the times

The Burlington brand rediscovered the Argyle pattern from the 1970s onwards as a concise sock pattern. Through a variety of colours, creative and individual designs as well as limited seasonal collections, Burlington succeeds in reinventing the classic Argyle pattern again and again, but without losing the original design. Exclusive socks from Burlington are a unique fashion statement, which can be recognised by the original Burlington clip. As well as the attention they command.

Thanks to the "ONE SIZE FITS ALL" sizing concept, Burlington socks fit every foot and also make excellent gifts. Always guaranteed to fit! Socks for women are available in sizes 36-41 or 41-45, while sizes 40-46 or 46-50 are available for men. Special materials and manufacturing processes make the socks particularly stretchy and ensure they always return to their original shape.
Burlington Clip

The brand with the clip

The typical Burlington clip with Burlington logo can be found on almost all our styles. And on the left. Always on the left side of the left sock. This is a seal of quality, brand logo and distinctive feature all in one.

Plenty of fashion. Plenty of colour. Variety!

Burlington brings colour to our feet. Thanks to our unique colour expertise, we offer a diverse range of creative, harmonious and sometimes daring combinations. In addition to classic, timeless styles, each season we introduce new sock styles in the latest fashionable colours. We are constantly reinventing our argyle pattern, so you can always find the colour to match your mood. From simple understatement to a strong fashion statement: our socks are always colourful for life.

Burlington Intarsia meets Argyle

Our knit 17: intarsia

Our argyle products also follow a pattern when it comes to the way they are made. This involves a special knitting pattern. The specific technique here is called intarsia, which is a versatile and seamless method that creates intricate knitted designs without the fabric being too thick. The result is a smooth, comfortable fabric with no cut threads on the inside, so it feels great to wear. Intarsia designs are ideal for expressing personal style and are perfect for garments or accessories that have a long life and a bright finish. Burlington is one of the few manufacturers to use this complex technique. You will feel the difference.

One step ahead

Since 2008, the quality of the fabric has been undergoing constant improvements and reinterpretation under the umbrella of the traditional FALKE brand. In Serbia, Slovakia and at our original location in Schmallenberg, we use exclusively high-quality materials to make your original Burlington products.
Burlington WE CARE Production of a sock

Production like clockwork

The production of a high-quality sock is a complex process, involving several stages. After knitting and turning, the toe area is closed and the sock is pre-shaped for a perfect fit. The socks are then treated and finished to make them soft, skin-friendly, hard-wearing and easy to care for.
Burlington WE CARE The steps you take

A sock that takes it all in its stride

The durability of Burlington socks is constantly guaranteed by rigorous testing. Using the Martindale method to evaluate resistance to wear and tear, our quality standards require the socks to handle an impressive minimum of 20,000 abrasion cycles. Why is this so relevant for you? Because socks are subjected to a variety of stresses and strains in everyday life simply as a result of totally normal movements, abrasion in the shoes or through washing. Thanks to outstanding materials, meticulous workmanship and stringent durability standards, our products take it all in their stride.
